CausesThere are many causes behind the Holocaust. One of the main causes is Hitler's hatred towards Jews. As a teenager, Hitler had moved to Vienna to join the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. After failing twice, Hitler roamed the streets. There, he picked up his Anti-Semitic ways. Karl Lueger was the current mayor of Vienna and he was a well known Anti-Semite. Hitler looked up to Lueger and was quite impressed with him for many reasons. He observed Lueger closely and later used his observations as Führer. Witnessing discrimination against Jews at a young age was one reason Hitler hated them himself thus the Holocaust (Historyplace.com).

Holocaust DeniedAlthough the vast majority of people believed in the Holocaust, some extremists who are anti-Semitic denied the entire thing. They argued that Jews made up everything about the Holocaust to win sympathy from everyone else and maintained the fact that Jews are conspiring against mankind. These extremists are known to argue about differences in the stories told and the testimonies that were given such as the number of people that were put in gas chambers at the same time (Hill 344).
